In my research about professional blogging and the importance of blogging, I thought it would be important to discuss how businesses use blogs and why they're important to those businesses. I found a book titled "Blogging For Business: Everything You Need To Know and Why You Should Care" to help me with this idea.
So far, the paper writing is going okay. I only have about five pages, but I'm struggling with going into extreme detail since blogging is such a broad topic. I'm trying to focus on ethical issues when you're blogging as a professional, as well as focusing on what makes a blog professional and how professionals use blogs.

You might already know about this guy from your research, but in my media law class we just covered video blogger Josh Wolf, who was jailed 168 days for refusing to reveal confidential sources. Some people see him as "a hero of alternative media." There's been some debate about whether he qualifies as a "journalist" per se, so maybe you could use him as an example of a professional blogger? Here's his blog: http://joshwolf.net/blog/
ReplyDeleteAn issue that I am curious about is how conversational are blogs supposed to be? I did one a few quarters ago for J314, and I really enjoyed it because it allowed me to write in a creative way. But, even now, I am not sure if it would qualify as a journalistic blog. It makes me wonder if this would be a good thing to show an employer because of how creative it is.
